Controversial Nigerian cleric Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has sparked reactions on social media after making a bold declaration about his death, insisting that he would not die like an ordinary person but would simply disappear when he had completed his assignment on earth.
The outspoken preacher made the statement during an energetic moment with his congregation, where he asked how people would celebrate him after his death, maintaining that his followers should not expect to organise a conventional burial for him.
“You can never celebrate me when I am dead. Who would go and put their foot in my burial?” he asked, repeatedly calling on members of the congregation and asking whether they could see him.
He went on to warn his followers against making burial plans for him, declaring, “Don’t come and plan a burial for me.”
The cleric then made his most striking statement, insisting that death was not how his earthly journey would end.
“I can never die. The only thing I will do when I’m done with my job, I will disappear,” he declared.
His remarks drew loud cheers, shouts and chants from members of the congregation, who responded enthusiastically as he continued with his usual dramatic and energetic style of preaching.
Odumeje also used the moment to describe himself in grand terms, referring to himself as a lion and someone destined to become a star, while his followers echoed his words.
