Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, has explained why he considers himself “bigger than Peter Obi”, citing his achievements and sacrifices in Nigeria’s human rights and democratic struggles.
Adeyanju made the statement during a recent interview with Channels Television anchor, Seun Okinbaloye.
According to him, his record as a human rights activist and the sacrifices he has made for the country distinguish him from Obi, a former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate.
Adeyanju said he doubted whether Obi had made similar sacrifices for Nigeria’s democracy, questioning his contribution to the democratic struggle.
“I am bigger than Peter Obi. The things I have achieved in my life as a human rights activist, he can never achieve them.
“Has he ever made any sacrifice for the country? What does he know about the democracy that he is enjoying?” he said.
His comments have since generated reactions, with Nigerians debating the respective contributions of Adeyanju and Obi to the country’s political and democratic development.
