‘I’m now fighting for my new country’ — Lord of Ajasa becomes US citizen

Veteran Nigerian rapper, Olusegun Osaniyi, popularly known as Lord of Ajasa, has announced that he is now a United States citizen.

The Yoruba rap pioneer shared the news on Instagram, posting videos and pictures with his wife, Funmi.

In one of the videos, Lord of Ajasa displayed his US citizenship certificate alongside the American flag before announcing his new status to his fans.

“My fans, I’m now a US citizen; you all should know. This is my new country’s flag. I’m now fighting for my new country,” he said.

The rapper also shared a picture of himself and his wife holding the American flag, while another post carried the caption, “Thank You America.”

Lord of Ajasa, who rose to prominence in the early 2000s, is regarded as one of the pioneers of mainstream Yoruba rap in Nigeria.

He became known for songs including “Ma Yi Lo,” “Le Fenu So” and “Esha Lo Bade” and worked with artistes including 9ice, Olamide and the late Da Grin.
