Imo APC crisis could cost Tinubu South-East votes in 2027 – Group

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

A political group, the Renewed Hope Foot Soldiers for Tinubu, RHFST, has warned that the lingering crisis in Imo State All Progressives Congress, APC, could cost President Bola Tinubu South-East votes in the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement by its National President, Gbenga Owojori, on Saturday, the group said the crisis involving Governor Hope Uzodimma and former Governor Rochas Okorocha must be resolved urgently.

According to the group, if the Imo APC crisis is not settled, it will affect President Tinubu's chances of getting votes from the South-East in 2027.

"Imo APC crisis could cost Tinubu South-East votes. The dispute has consequences beyond the constituency.

"It has altered the political calculations surrounding the Senate presidency and raised concern that a leading South-East contender could be shut out of the contest before the next Senate is constituted,” the statement said.

The group warned Governor Uzodimma and Okorocha to sheath their swords and work for the unity of the party in Imo State and the South-East.

It said President Tinubu needs South-East votes to win in 2027 and cannot afford to lose the region because of Imo crisis.
