Independence Day: Alia calls for unity, support for government

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has urged Nigerians to support government initiatives at the federal, state and local levels aimed at tackling the country’s challenges and improving the welfare of citizens.

Alia made the appeal in his goodwill message to Nigerians as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

The governor called for greater national unity, peace and responsible citizenship, urging citizens to contribute constructive ideas that could strengthen governance and promote development.

According to him, the anniversary offers Nigerians an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s progress over the years, acknowledge the resilience of its people and renew their commitment to the principles of freedom, unity and development.

Alia noted that independence should not be viewed solely as the attainment of political freedom, stressing that citizens also have important roles to play in governance and the development of their communities.

The governor expressed appreciation to the people of Benue State for their continued support, prayers and confidence in his administration, especially amid the difficulties confronting the state.

He wished Nigerians a peaceful 66th Independence Anniversary and prayed for sustained unity, peace, prosperity and collective progress across the country.
