on his first anniversary as a pastor in the United States, where he said the electoral setback forced him to surrender his plans to God and reconsider his purpose.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“In 2023 I lost an election. And while the experience inspired me in many ways, it also broke my heart into a million little pieces,” he wrote on Instagram.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The entertainer said he turned to God after the election to seek direction and surrender his ambitions.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“When the dust settled, I took those pieces back to God. And I surrendered,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, the experience made him question whether he should focus on leadership, entertainment, business or ministry.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, he said he eventually realised that he did not have to choose one path at the expense of the others.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“And somewhere along the way, I realised that I was asking God to choose between things He had never asked me to separate,” Banky W said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“It wasn’t either\u002For. It was all of the above.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that his transition into pastoral ministry had changed his understanding of purpose, saying he now saw his responsibilities as expanding rather than narrowing.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“Turns out, God wasn’t trying to put me in a box. He was expanding my assignment,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Banky W explained that he now combines his responsibilities as a pastor and professor with his work as a filmmaker, musician and entrepreneur.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also recalled joking about his possible future in ministry, saying he had previously insisted that the letter “P” in his name, P. Banks, stood for professor rather than pastor.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“I used to joke that the ‘P’ in P. Banks stood for Professor, not Pastor. I guess God heard and said, ‘Why not both?’” he wrote.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The singer also spoke about the challenges of travelling regularly between Lagos and the Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia area to manage his various responsibilities.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“Constantly travelling back and forth between Lagos and the DMV isn’t always easy. But has it been worth it? Absolutely,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reflecting on the past year, Banky W said the experience had taught him that setbacks could lead to unexpected opportunities.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“One year later, I’m reminded that sometimes what feels like the end of your story is really just God turning the page,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“The election didn’t go the way I hoped. But God’s plans for my life are bigger than the plans I had for myself.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Banky W contested the 2023 House of Representatives election to represent Eti-Osa Federal Constituency in Lagos State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). What sort of business is that? Let me break it down for you. It is crazy. Don’t believe everything you see on social media or at events.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“A chaos broke out at night in a hotel I lodged in recently in Abuja. So, I went up to check what was happening. I saw someone I knew and asked him, but he said we should go to my hotel room because he couldn’t discuss it outside. When we got to my hotel room, he told me that the boys involved in the altercation are called ‘money sprayers’.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“What they do is that people rent them to spray money at their events to pressure guests into spraying. The amount they spray at an event depends on their agreement with the host. They also spray dollars.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“At the end of the event, the hosts will return the money they sprayed to them. They also get 10 to 15 per cent of the money the other guests sprayed, depending on the agreement.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“What led to the disagreement at the Abuja hotel was that the host found counterfeit 800 dollars in the money that was sprayed at the event. The host accused them of spraying the counterfeit money, but they insisted that they didn’t spray it, arguing that it could have been the celebrant’s friends.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“I was shocked to discover that there is a business like that. People will be feeling pressured watching others spraying money, not knowing that it was staged.
