The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Borno State has commenced the display of the voters’ register and distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across the state’s 27 local government areas.

The Head of Voter Education and Publicity in the state, Ibrahim Shuaibu, said the display of the register and distribution of PVCs would be conducted in phases, with the commission providing timelines for claims and objections.

Shuaibu said the exercise would be extended to the ward level to ensure wider participation and enable registered voters to verify their details.

“The display and distribution of PVCs will take place simultaneously across the 27 local government areas of the state,” he said.

He expressed satisfaction with the turnout of residents who had visited designated centres to check their names on the register and collect their PVCs.

According to him, the ongoing distribution covers voters who participated in the registration exercises conducted in August and December last year.

He added that INEC was awaiting the delivery of additional PVCs from the commission’s national headquarters.
