The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has commenced the display of the Register of Voters and collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across the territory.

According to a public notice signed by Mrs. Abimbola Oladunjoye, on behalf of the FCT Resident Electoral Commissioner, the exercise is being held in all 62 Registration Area Centres (RACs) in the FCT and will end on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

The commission, however, said that the exercise would continue at the six area 2council offices from October 16, 2026.

It urged all registrants in the FCT to take advantage of the exercise to check the correctness of their names on the register, confirm and identify their Polling Units, raise objections to the inclusion of ineligible persons, and collect their PVCs if they registered, transferred, or updated their records before 2026 and are yet to collect their cards.

The commission clarified that PVCs for the 2026 Continuous Voter Registration exercise were currently not available, adding that voters would be duly notified as soon as the cards were ready for collection.

INEC FCT advised members of the public to call 0700 225 5634 632 or 0701 578 0499 for further enquiries.

INEC ‎Chairman Joash Amupitan, during a strategic engagement meeting with journalists in Abuja, announced that the cards would be distributed from October 9, 2026.

Amupitan also said that the Commission was strengthening the use of technology to ensure that stolen, lost, or compromised voter cards cannot be used by unauthorised persons to interfere with the electoral process.

According to him, Nigeria now has 103 million registered voters, with Lagos, Kano and Kaduna having the highest number of voters.

He disclosed that the FCT has 1,772,043 voters.

The chairman also said that the national voter register showed that male voters account for 53,528,218, representing 51.75 per cent, while female voters number 49,900,497, representing 48.25 per cent.

He added that the age profile revealed that the register is dominated by voters between the ages of 35 and 49, who account for 43,265,946 voters, or 41.83 per cent of the total.
