INEC displays final list of 15 Abia gov candidates

One woman makes list as 92 vie for 24 Assembly seats

UMUAHIA — The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has released the final list of candidates for the February 6, 2027 governorship election in Abia State, with 15 political parties fielding candidates.

The list, pasted on Sunday on the notice board at INEC’s headquarters in Ogurube Layout, Umuahia, shows that only one of the 15 governorship candidates is female, while the remaining 14 are male.

INEC also displayed the names of the running mates of the respective governorship candidates.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Abia State, Professor S. Agu, in an interview with Vanguard, said the list was released late Saturday night.

The candidates and their running mates are:

1. AAC: Doris Uzumma Umezurike — Chionye Nnabugwu Chukwudi.

2. ADC: Kalu Kalu Agu Alozie — Ogadinma Darlington.

3. ADP: Ikechukwu George Nwachukwu — Obasi Rossy Emmanuel.

4. APC: Eric Chinemuechueya Opah — Egbe Godswill Agu.

5. APGA: Ijioma Uchechukwu Charles — Ehiemere Augustine Chinonye.

6. APM: Umunnah Victor Jireh — Nwosu Emmanuella Nnenna.

7. APP: Ijioma Nwokoro Ijioma — Nwoloki Lucky Eze.

8. LP: Alex Chioma Otti — Emetu Ikechukwu Lekwachi.

9. NDC: Ogah Iroetugo Nnubuisi — Alaribe Bright Medozie.

10. NDP: Leo Onyekwere — Uchenna Oleh.

11. NNPP: Anthony Kelechi Apugo — Nwokoji Chris Nwaobilor.

12. NRM: Jerry Jerry — Nathaniel Ngozi Oyedia.

13. PDP: Anosike Kelechi — Amah Abraham Nnanna.

14. SDP: Obasi Uba Ekeagbara — Atuzie Loveday.

15. ZLP: Onukwue Prince Chibunna — Abalogu Doris Odochi.

Meanwhile, INEC has also displayed the final list of candidates for the Abia State House of Assembly election.

According to the list, 92 candidates from 15 political parties will contest the 24 state constituency seats in the election.
