The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State has introduced QR codes to help eligible voters locate designated Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection centres ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Commission said the codes could be scanned through its official social media platforms and website, giving voters another way to identify where to collect their cards.
Speaking at a press conference at INEC’s Lagos headquarters, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Ayobami Salami, urged eligible voters to collect their PVCs, verify their registration details and rely on official sources for election-related information.
He stressed the importance of voter participation as the Commission intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
INEC said preparations were also ongoing in other operational areas, including the procurement and testing of voter accreditation devices, improvements to election-result transmission systems, logistics planning, and the recruitment and training of election personnel.
The Commission added that it was working to strengthen its operational readiness to ensure a smooth electoral process.
The introduction of the QR codes is part of INEC Lagos’s efforts to improve access to voter information and encourage eligible voters to confirm their details and collect their PVCs ahead of election day.
