The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its online accreditation portal for media organisations seeking to cover the September 2026 rerun elections in selected constituencies across the country.
INEC announced that the accreditation process commenced on Monday, August 24, 2026, through its INEC Media Accreditation Portal (IMAP).
The affected constituencies include Sakwa State Constituency in Bauchi State, Udu State Constituency in Delta State and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State.
Media organisations interested in deploying journalists and other relevant personnel to cover the elections are required to apply through the portal.
The commission said the portal would close at midnight on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, stressing that there would be no extension of the deadline.
INEC said accreditation would be conducted strictly online, adding that no manual applications would be entertained.
It also warned that late submissions would not be accepted, as the portal would automatically shut down at the expiration of the deadline.
According to the commission, only credible and duly registered media organisations would be considered for accreditation.
“Media organisations are advised to complete their applications and nominations well before the deadline,” INEC said.
The commission urged interested media organisations to ensure that all required information and documents were properly uploaded before the portal closes.
