The pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the Governors of Ogun and Lagos states, and the Commissioners of Police in both states for their decisive action against banditry and kidnapping along the Ogbere–Sagamu Road in Ogun State.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Leader of Afenifere, Chief Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, the group’s National Organising Secretary, Abagun Kole Omololu, praised the security agencies for their swift, coordinated and intelligence-driven operations that restored safety to the area.
According to the statement, the successful operation demonstrated the effectiveness of inter-state collaboration, purposeful leadership and professional policing in confronting organised criminality.
“The swift restoration of security reflects the value of purposeful leadership, professional policing, and effective inter-state and inter-command cooperation,” the statement said.
Afenifere particularly lauded the Inspector-General of Police for providing strategic leadership and operational direction, noting that his commitment to intelligence-led policing has significantly strengthened the Nigeria Police Force’s response to organised crime.
The group also singled out the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Olubode Ojajuni, for his deep knowledge of the terrain and operational expertise, describing his contribution as instrumental to the success of the operation.
Similarly, it applauded the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, for deploying operational resources, specialised equipment and logistical support that enhanced the effectiveness of the joint security operation.
The organisation further acknowledged the support of Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, saying their political will and commitment to providing an enabling environment for security agencies had strengthened law enforcement efforts in both states.
“Their support for security operations and provision of the necessary enabling environment have significantly enhanced the ability of law enforcement agencies to discharge their constitutional responsibilities effectively,” Afenifere stated.
The group paid tribute to the officers and personnel who participated in the operation, describing them as courageous, patriotic and professional in confronting criminal elements threatening lives and property.
Reaffirming its commitment to a safe and secure Yorubaland, Afenifere declared that criminal elements would find no refuge in the region.
“The message is unequivocal: Kò sí ayé—there is no place for evil in Yorubaland. Those who seek to threaten the peace, security and prosperity of our people will continue to face the full weight of the law.”
The organisation added that the operation underscored the importance of local intelligence in combating crime and reaffirmed the collective resolve of the Yoruba people against banditry, kidnapping and all forms of violent criminality.
“The people of Yorubaland remain profoundly grateful for this exemplary display of courage, dedication and public service. Odùduwà á gbé yín o,” the statement concluded.
