The Deputy Head of the newly appointed 4th Administration of the Directorate of State, DOS, of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Solomon Egbo, has insisted that the expelled members of the dissolved 3rd Administration sabotaged Nnamdi Kanu’s freedom and the Biafra struggle.
Kanu had on Sunday announced the expulsion of members of the 3rd Administration, led by Chika Edoziem.
Those expelled alongside Edoziem are Tony Nzurumike, Austin Agbanyim, Chukwudi Oforma, Isaiah Ubah, Colins Chinedu, Chinasa Nworu
Fidelis Ejiogu, Chidinma Nworu a.k.a Juliet Edward Filatro and Keke Uda.
Speaking in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday, Egbo said the expulsion of the members of the dissolved 3rd Administration was a painful but necessary action taken by Kanu for the good of IPOB and the Biafra struggle.
He said, “With a heart heavy with sorrow yet burning with righteous anger, I address you today. Our Supreme Leader, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has taken the painful but necessary decision to expel certain individuals who once held high offices in our movement. As Deputy Head of the new 4th Directorate of State under Mazi Chris Nwaọgụ, it is my solemn duty to speak plainly and truthfully so every genuine Biafran understands the depth of the betrayal that forced this action.
“These individuals — the former leadership of the dissolved 3rd Directorate of State and their associates — have committed grave, repeated violations of the IPOB Code of Conduct and our Constitution. Their actions were not mere mistakes. They were deliberate, sustained, and aimed at undermining the freedom of our Supreme Leader and the very survival of our struggle.”
Egbo listed the reasons for the expulsion.
“Wilful Abandonment of the Supreme Leader and Detained Biafrans
For years, while Onyendu and other Biafrans languished in DSS cells and later in Sokoto prison, these individuals turned their backs. They provided no consistent legal support, no meaningful welfare for families, and no urgent medical intervention when health deteriorated. They left our Leader to suffer alone while enjoying positions of privilege. This was outright abandonment.
“Countermanding Life-Saving Directives for Medical Funds: When Onyendu lay critically ill in DSS custody, fighting for his life, he issued a clear, urgent directive: AVID, Rising Sun, and Ambassadors for Self-Determination must immediately raise funds for his treatment. These individuals countermanded that order, blocking or discouraging the lifeline Biafrans were rushing to provide. They played God with the life of the Supreme Leader.
“Persistent Attacks on Lawyers and Efforts to Undermine the Legal Case:
Instead of rallying behind the legal team fighting day and night for his release, they launched sustained attacks on the Supreme Leader’s lawyers and colluded with the sacked Ifeanyi Ejiofor and certain political actors in the South East to sabotage court proceedings from within. At the critical moment when every resource and voice should have been focused on the courtroom, they chose division and internal sabotage.
“When Onyendu exercised his authority and removed Ifeanyi Ejiofor as counsel, the former leadership continued to work closely with him in defiance of that clear directive. They failed to challenge, through a Preliminary Objection, the Federal Government’s application for stay of execution following the historic Court of Appeal judgment of 13 October 2022.
“The Court of Appeal was unequivocal. Justice Oludotun Adefope-Okojie held: “In view of the fact that the trial court lacks jurisdiction to hear this case because the process of extradition of the appellant from Kenya to Nigeria was unlawful since due process was not followed, this appeal succeeds… Consequently, the appellant is therefore discharged.”
“The Court further held that: “The lower court thus has no jurisdiction… [Mr Kanu] is prohibited from being detained, tried or otherwise dealt with in Nigeria for… his extraordinary rendition to Nigeria… any Court in this country is divested of jurisdiction to entertain charges against [Mr Kanu].”
“Rather than defend and consolidate this landmark victory, these individuals promoted false narratives and directed blame toward members of the Supreme Leader’s family. That falsehood became one of their principal tools to justify rebellion against Onyendu’s authority and to sow confusion throughout the movement.”
Listing other reasons for the expulsion of the Edoziem-led group, Egbo added, “Spurious Allegations Against the Supreme Leader’s Brothers: They stooped to malicious lies and character assassination against Onyendu’s brothers in a bid to isolate him and damage the family that has stood faithfully by him. This was wickedness, not criticism.
“False Narrative on the Court of Appeal Discharge of 13 October 2022: They repeatedly lied that the Supreme Leader’s brothers returned him to court after the discharge. The truth they knew but concealed is that it was his then-legal team (including Chief Mike Ozekhome and Ifeanyi Ejiofor) who took that step instead of filing a strong Preliminary Objection to the Federal Government’s stay application. They weaponised this lie to fuel rebellion.
“Repeated Disregard of Warnings and Directives: Onyendu repeatedly warned them in patience and wisdom to abandon their destructive path and focus on his release and Biafra actualisation. They chose ego, power struggles, and distractions. This disobedience wasted precious time and momentum.
“Treacherous Defeatist Claims About President Tinubu: They openly declared that President Tinubu would never release Onyendu unless he renounced Biafra. This poisonous narrative sowed despair and provided cover for sabotage instead of resistance and hope.
“Fabricated Story of Advice from Two African Countries: They invented a lie that two African countries advised them to abandon the Supreme Leader. This cynical fabrication was meant to lend false legitimacy to their betrayal.
“Sustained Campaign to Demarket the Supreme Leader and Hijack IPOB: They ran a vicious campaign to destroy Onyendu’s global reputation and turn IPOB into their personal political vehicle.
Attacks on Voices Calling for the Supreme Leader’s Release: Anyone advocating for Onyendu’s freedom — including respected figures like His Majesty Eze Agubuzu and others — faced their intimidation and attacks.
“Unauthorised Removal of Appointed Officers: They illegally removed officers duly appointed by Onyendu and replaced them with personal loyalists, building a parallel structure.
Desecration of the IPOB Oath of Office:
They altered the sacred IPOB oath to demand loyalty to themselves instead of the cause and the Supreme Leader. This was sacrilege.
Overall Conduct Calculated to Weaken and Render IPOB Toothless: Their pattern was designed to strip IPOB of discipline, spirit, and effectiveness, making it vulnerable to enemies and power grabbers.”
Egbo insisted that the offenses were not minor infractions but grave betrayals that endangered Kanu’s life, divided IPOB ranks and threatened the future of Biafra.
“Despite repeated warnings, they refused to repent. The Supreme Leader therefore exercised the disciplinary powers vested in him under the IPOB Code of Conduct,” he said, adding that the expulsions are indefinite and take immediate effect.
He noted that the expelled individuals no longer speak for, represent, or act on behalf of IPOB or the Biafran cause.
Egbo called on every genuine IPOB member and supporter to close ranks behind the 4th Directorate of State led by Mazi Chris Nwaogu. According to him, the group’s focus remains the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu and the actualisation of Biafra.
