Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, have discussed efforts to revive diplomatic channels aimed at de-escalating Tehran’s conflict with the United States, including the recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia.
A Pakistani security official told reporters that the two officials held a telephone conversation on Thursday, during which they discussed the ongoing US-Israeli conflict with Iran and the possibility of returning to negotiations.
The official said the talks also focused on attacks by Yemen’s Houthi movement against Saudi Arabia and the broader security implications of the escalating regional tensions.
According to the official, Araghchi and Munir explored possible diplomatic avenues for reducing tensions between Iran and the United States across multiple fronts.
The discussions come amid heightened instability in the region, with diplomatic efforts facing renewed pressure as military confrontations and attacks involving Iran and its regional allies continue.
Pakistan has maintained diplomatic engagement with Iran while seeking to support efforts aimed at containing the wider conflict and preventing further escalation in the region.
