Socio-political commentator, Isaac Fayose, has claimed that the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, enjoys greater popularity in the South-South, South-East and North-Central regions than other presidential candidates.
Fayose made the claim in a video shared on his official Facebook page on Sunday, while appealing to the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, and the flagbearer of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, Seyi Makinde, to step down for Obi.
The businessman stressed the need for opposition parties to unite against the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, insisting that a united opposition was necessary to rescue the country.
Acknowledging Atiku and Makinde as major contenders, Fayose said if they team up with the former governor of Anambra State, President Bola Tinubu will be removed before 12pm on election day.
He said, "South-South is a no-go area for them. Peter Obi is doing well in the region. You can see what happened in Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross River. We are doing so well.
"The South-East is also our own. We are scared of them using AI to come up. Aside from that, South-South, South-East and North-Central are looking very good for us.
"The North-East is looking good because of Kwankwaso. I beg Atiku to step down for Peter Obi. Let Obi win and be our godfather.
"Atiku, make a sacrifice for your country and Seyi Makinde, please let us work together. Nigeria needs our deliverance and we all need to play our role.
"We know that ADC is a major party and Seyi Makinde is trying, but please, let's come together so that before 12pm on January 16, we will escort Baba from Aso Rock."
