The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has allayed the fears of prospective tertiary institution candidates over its new O’Level result verification system, assuring that those who previously uploaded their results will not be required to upload them again or obtain a fresh verification code.
The clarification followed concerns among candidates who had already uploaded their West African Examinations Council, WAEC, and other O’Level results either during the ongoing registration exercise, after the release of the latest WAEC results or in previous admission cycles under the former arrangement.
In a statement by its Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, on Thursday, JAMB said all results uploaded through the previous process remained valid and would continue to be recognised on its admission platform.
The Board warned candidates against unnecessary repeat uploads, stressing that the introduction of the new verification system did not invalidate O’Level results already captured on its platform.
According to JAMB, “all candidates who have previously uploaded their O’Level results do not need to re-upload their results or obtain a verification code again.”
It said the clarification applied to candidates who uploaded their results during the current registration exercise, those who uploaded them after the release of WAEC results and candidates whose results had been uploaded in previous years.
The development is expected to ease concerns among thousands of admission seekers who feared that failure to obtain the newly introduced verification code could affect their chances of securing admission.
JAMB explained that the new verification system was introduced to strengthen the integrity of O’Level results and prevent the presentation of fake or falsified certificates during the admission process.
It, however, noted that previously uploaded results could still be subjected to verification by individual institutions where necessary.
“The new verification process is designed to further strengthen the integrity of O’Level results and ensure that no falsified result is accepted into the admission process,” Benjamin said.
He added that candidates whose results were uploaded under the previous process had nothing to fear, as the results already available on the Board’s portal remained valid and would be considered during admission, subject to institutional verification.
The Board therefore urged candidates not to panic or undertake repeated uploads simply because their results were submitted before the introduction of the new verification arrangement.
JAMB’s clarification effectively distinguishes between the validity of previously uploaded results and the new verification procedure, assuring candidates that the new system is intended to enhance the credibility of the admission process and not require existing applicants to begin the O’Level submission process afresh.
