The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has introduced measures to make the admission process less stressful for candidates while warning against attempts to manipulate personal information.
JAMB Registrar, Professor Segun Aina, disclosed this on Wednesday during an interaction with candidates at the board’s Abuja Zonal Office as part of activities marking its 2026 Customer Week.
Aina explained that the measures were designed to improve transparency, strengthen public confidence and make it easier for candidates to access their accounts and resolve legitimate personal information issues.
He said the board was working to reduce the uncertainty candidates experience while awaiting admission decisions by providing clearer information about their admission status.
According to him, JAMB has also leveraged technology to make it easier for candidates to update their registered phone numbers and email addresses when they lose access to their accounts.
The registrar said the board was collaborating with the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, to address issues involving candidates’ personal details and ensure their records are properly aligned.
He, however, cautioned candidates against exploiting the new flexibility to change their identities fraudulently, warning that offenders would face the full weight of the law.
“If you would like to change your entire name, we will keep track of you. And if you are trying to take advantage of the system, please get ready. You will be feeling the full weight of the law in due course,” he warned.
Aina said the reforms were part of efforts to improve service delivery while safeguarding the credibility of the admission process.
He added that JAMB remained committed to ensuring that qualified candidates secured admission on merit without needing personal connections or influential contacts.
