A total of 134 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) candidates from two Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) schools have received scholastic materials from Jubilee Insurance as they prepare for their examinations.
The beneficiaries are from East Kololo Primary School and Shimoni Demonstration School, where company officials visited learners and encouraged them to remain focused on their studies.
East Kololo Primary School has 31 candidates registered for the examinations, while Shimoni Demonstration School has 103.
Shaherose Jamal, the director of Jubilee Life and Health Insurance, urged the candidates to take their education seriously, saying good academic performance can influence their future employment opportunities.
She encouraged the learners to set ambitious goals and develop the discipline necessary to achieve them.
“Our staff went through school like you. But to get to a good standard and apply for a job in a company like Jubilee, your education and results are very important,” Ms Jamal said.
She also called on the learners to embrace science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects, saying the disciplines are important for their future.
Jubilee Insurance Uganda chief executive officer Eugine Mutekhele encouraged the candidates to approach their examinations with confidence, saying the preparation undertaken by their teachers should give them reason to believe in themselves.
“We know that you have worked hard and practiced. The teachers have invested a lot in you and we have trust that you will do well,” he said.
Mr Mutekhele said the learners’ education would benefit them, their families and the country.
The donation is part of Jubilee Insurance’s planned partnership with KCCA, which is expected to extend beyond scholastic support to include healthcare and environmental conservation activities targeting schoolchildren.
The company also plans environmental conservation programmes aimed at teaching learners proper waste disposal and the importance of keeping their surroundings clean.
