Kano court jails man for 10 years over friend’s killing

Daily Post 11 minutes 1 mins read

A Kano State High Court has sentenced Ayuba Sani Tumfafi to 10 years in a correctional centre for unlawfully killing his friend, Ibrahim Dan Larai, following an argument over waking up for the early morning Fajr prayer.

Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, who presided over the case at High Court No. 1, handed down the sentence after considering the evidence presented during the trial.

The court heard that Tumfafi and Ibrahim had a disagreement over getting up for the dawn prayer, which later led to Ibrahim’s death.

During the proceedings, prosecution counsel Amina Uba Adamu called three witnesses and presented three exhibits to support the case against Tumfafi.

The defendant also presented his defence before the court delivered its judgment.

After finding Tumfafi guilty of unlawful killing, Justice Aboki sentenced him to 10 years in a correctional centre.

The judge also directed him to pursue both Islamic and Western education while serving his sentence.
