Daily Post 2 days 1 mins read

A Kano State High Court sitting on Miller Road has remanded a young man, Umar Ibrahim, in prison custody over the alleged armed robbery and rape of a married woman in the Kano metropolis.

The Kano State Government arraigned the defendant before the court presided over by Justice Sulaiman Baba Na Malam.

During the court session, the prosecution counsel, Barrister Amina Uba Adamu, presented the defendant and urged the court to read the charges filed against him.

According to the prosecution, the defendant allegedly went to the complainant’s residence on Jajira Street, where he reportedly robbed her of money, threatened to kill her and later raped her.

After the charges were read, Umar Ibrahim pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

Justice Sulaiman ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody pending the continuation of the trial.

The court subsequently fixed July 8, 2026, for the commencement of hearing and the presentation of witnesses in the case.
