The Kano State House of Assembly has called on the state government to urgently intervene in the diphtheria outbreak that has reportedly claimed the lives of more than 50 children in Rano Local Government Area.
The member representing Rano Constituency, Hon. Ibrahim Malami, made the call in a motion of urgent public importance presented before the House.
He said the outbreak had claimed over 50 children in Rurum A, Rurum B and Sabuwar Kaura communities, all in Rurum Ward of Rano Local Government Area.

Hon. Malami further disclosed that the local government’s medical department had already commenced emergency intervention, with support from the lawmaker through the provision of drugs.
He thanked members of the House for supporting the call for urgent government intervention to address the situation
