ABUJA — President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, have congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 60th birthday, celebrating his years of public service and contributions to Nigeria’s development.
President Tinubu, in a birthday message personally signed by him, described Shettima as a trusted ally, valued colleague and patriot whose life had been defined by service, commitment and sacrifice.
“Today, I warmly congratulate Vice President Kashim Shettima, my brother and partner in steering the ship of our state, on his 60th birthday,” Tinubu said.
The President congratulated Shettima’s wife, Nana, his children, family and political associates on the milestone.
Tinubu also highlighted Shettima’s career in banking and his record of public service, particularly as Governor of Borno State and subsequently as Vice President of Nigeria.
According to him, Shettima has demonstrated “courage, diligence, compassion and an abiding commitment to improving the lives of the people” in both capacities.
The President commended the Vice President’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress, APC, his support for the administration and his commitment to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Tinubu also praised Shettima’s role as Chairman of the National Economic Council, saying he had provided purposeful leadership in coordinating economic policies and fostering collaboration between the Federal Government and sub-national governments.
He noted that Shettima’s respect for constitutional governance, democratic institutions, dialogue and consultation had contributed to strengthening good governance.
“As a trusted partner, his loyalty, wisdom and sense of duty have remained invaluable to the administration,” Tinubu said.
He thanked the Vice President for his “steadfast support and partnership” as the administration continued efforts to deliver on its promises to Nigerians.
“I am confident that working together, we will continue to make meaningful progress in building the Nigeria of our dreams,” the President said.
Tinubu, on behalf of the Federal Government, prayed for divine guidance, protection, wisdom and good health for Shettima, as well as many more years of purposeful service to Nigeria.
Also celebrating the Vice President, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu described his 60th birthday as a significant milestone and joined his wife, Hajia Nana Shettima, family and friends in celebrating him.
“On this occasion of your Diamond Jubilee, I join your wife, Her Excellency Hajia Nana Shettima, family and friends in celebrating you,” she said.
The First Lady praised Shettima for exemplifying “strength, loyalty, commitment and love for country” as Vice President.
She also acknowledged his previous roles as Governor of Borno State, senator and banker, describing his career as marked by notable achievements.
“As you attain this milestone, I pray Almighty Allah continues to bless you with divine health, peace, joy and happiness,” she said.
