The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Kaduna State University chapter, has suspended its indefinite strike action.
The decision follows the approval by the Kaduna State Government for the full implementation and domestication of the 2025 FGN-ASUU agreement for academic staff of the university.
In a statement signed by the union’s chairman, Abubakar Abdullahi, and secretary, Silas Bakut, Asuu says the decision was taken at its congress held on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
The union unanimously resolved to suspend the industrial action effective from 12:01 a.m. on Friday, September 18.
The development follows Governor Uba Sani’s approval of the implementation and domestication of the 2025 FGN-Asuu agreement for Kaduna State University academic staff, beginning with the October 2026 salary.
The university governing council and management have also approved the payment of nine months of accrued arrears, covering the period from January to September.
ASUU commended the Kaduna State Government, the government negotiation team and the university management for resolving the dispute through constructive engagement.
The union also expressed appreciation for the resolution of the matter without intimidation or threats.
With the suspension of the strike effective Friday, September 18, academic activities at Kaduna State University are expected to resume.
