The Katsina State Police Command says it arrested 247 suspects linked to various criminal offences and rescued 17 kidnapped victims during a series of intelligence-led operations carried out across the state in August 2026.
Addressing journalists on Friday at the Command Headquarters in Katsina, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, described the feat as a reflection of the Command’s renewed commitment to combating kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, cattle rustling, drug trafficking and other violent crimes through proactive policing.
According to him, the suspects include three suspected kidnappers, 15 armed robbery suspects, four suspected bandits’ informants, 31 drug peddlers, 13 murder and culpable homicide suspects, 20 rape and sodomy suspects, and 160 others arrested for various criminal offences.
DSP Sadiq disclosed that 122 major criminal cases were reported and investigated during the period, with 89 cases already charged to court following the conclusion of preliminary investigations.
He further revealed that all 17 rescued kidnap victims were debriefed, medically examined and reunited with their families.
The Police spokesperson added that operatives also recovered a cache of exhibits, including an AK-47 rifle, 145 suspected rustled livestock, a motor vehicle, six motorcycles, 1,500 packs of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), popularly known as “Yar Kwamaso”, tramadol capsules, Exol-5 tablets, recharge cards, vandalised electrical wires, a sewing machine and other items, all of which would be tendered as evidence during prosecution.
He attributed the successes to sustained intelligence-led operations, community policing initiatives, joint patrols and real-time intelligence sharing with other security agencies, which he said have significantly improved operational effectiveness across the state.

While acknowledging the progress recorded, DSP Sadiq stressed that the Command remains committed to intensifying efforts against criminal elements and vowed not to relent until lasting peace and security are achieved.
He expressed appreciation to the Katsina State Government under Governor Malam Dikko Radda, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and residents of the state for their continued support and cooperation.
The Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible intelligence to security agencies, warning that anyone involved in criminal activities would face the full weight of the law.
