The Kebbi State Government has declared Tuesday, June 16, 2026, a public holiday to mark the commencement of the Islamic New Year, 1448 AH.
The declaration was approved by Governor Nasir Idris, according to a circular issued by the Ministry of Establishment, Pension and Training.
The circular, dated June 9, 2026, and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Hajiya Hafsat Ibrahim Tune, on behalf of the Commissioner, directed public servants across the state to observe the holiday in celebration of the new Islamic calendar year.
The state government congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the occasion and urged residents to use the period to pray for sustained peace, unity, prosperity, and continued development of Kebbi State and Nigeria.
It also announced that normal official activities would resume on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
