The Kebbi State Government has welcomed the Nigerian Army’s establishment and operationalisation of new military formations in the state, describing the move as a boost to security operations.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed BK, said the development would strengthen security operations and improve the response to emerging threats in Kebbi and neighbouring areas.
The Army recently operationalised the 28 Armoured Brigade and Garrison in Birnin Kebbi, alongside the 281 Tank Battalion in Yauri and 381 Artillery Regiment in Kaoje.
Ahmed said the additional military presence would help security forces respond more effectively to banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities affecting communities in the state.
He assured residents that the state government would continue to cooperate with security agencies in their efforts to protect lives and property.
The commissioner also urged residents to support security agencies by providing credible information on the activities, locations and movements of bandits and other criminal elements.
He stressed that sustained cooperation between residents and security agencies was necessary to strengthen intelligence gathering and improve security across the state.
