Knorr joins Abia women to celebrate culture, food at 2026 August Meeting

Daily Post about 3 hours 3 mins read

Every festival has a flavour. Sometimes, it is found in the meals prepared for loved ones, the recipes passed down as generations gather, or the joy of gathering around a table with one’s family and friends.

At the annual August Meeting celebration, that flavour is deeply connected to culture, community, and the women who help keep these traditions alive.

This spirit came alive on Friday, August 28, as Knorr joined women from across Nigeria and the diaspora at the New Government House, Umuahia, Abia State, for the grand finale of the state’s 2026 August Meeting celebrations.

Organised by the Office of the Wife of the Governor of Abia State in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs, the event, themed “Abia Women: Empowered to Thrive,” brought women together to celebrate their heritage, strengthen social ties, and contribute to the state’s continued development.

For Knorr, Nigeria’s leading seasoning brand, the gathering was the perfect opportunity to celebrate something that makes cultural celebrations so memorable: food and the flavours that bring people together.

Across Igbo communities, food is essential to building connection.

From the meals prepared for returning family members to the traditional recipes passed from mothers to daughters, and the dishes enjoyed at every cultural celebration, food carries stories of where people come from and the values that matter to them.

For these communities, food is not just a meal but a celebration of culture and togetherness. This was the spirit that Knorr brought to the August Meeting, adding its flavour to an event that brought women and families closer.

The August Meeting event featured a full programme of activities celebrating and empowering women.

The event included business grants for female entrepreneurs, raffle draws and prizes, march-past exhibitions, networking, and goodie bags, adding to the day’s excitement.

Knorr participated in the day’s activities by sharing food packs prepared with its flavorful seasoning.

Through this gesture, the brand celebrated the women who give these gatherings their distinct flavour.Speaking on Knorr’s participation, Damilola Dania, Foods Demand Creation Lead at Unilever Nigeria Plc, said, “Some of life’s most meaningful connections are created over food.

As a brand that believes in the power of good food to unite people, we are delighted to be part of this celebration and to add our flavour to it.

We are proud to celebrate the women who continue to keep traditions alive and to be part of moments that bring families and communities together.

”The celebration in Umuahia reaffirmed the enduring connection between food and culture. For Knorr, being part of the August Meeting was an opportunity to celebrate the women who preserve food traditions and the flavours that make every gathering special.
