The Lagos state chaper of the international organisation of professionals in the field of information technology, governance, assurance, risk management and privacy, ISACA, has celebrated its 2026 Community Day with a clean up exercise at Computer village, Ikeja, Lagos.
They group also took the opportunity to sensitise members of the public on responsible disposal of electronic waste as a step forward towards a healthier environment while donating sanitary tools to members of the Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA) and the Ikeja Computer Village division of the Lagos State Market Board.
According to the Lagos chapter President, Justus Osuji, the community day event is celebrated by ISACA members every October as part of activities for the global cyber security awareness month.
“Community Day is celebrated worldwide by ISACA community members every October as part of activities for the global Cyber Security Awareness month. Through the Community Day event, we create awareness about cyber security, cyber hygiene, data protection and all aspects of technology that people need to be aware of and to enlighten the members of the public on what they need to know about security and about technology, about effective use of technology so that people will not use technology in a way that harms them,” Osuji said.
LAWMA Area Manager, Emmanuella Omootemi, who received 30 pieces of coverall and seven cones on behalf of the LAWMA delegation expressed appreciation to Lagos ISACA team for the items.
“Honestly, all this while, if you move around, you will see that some of the sweepers, their uniform are torn or worn out. Some NGOs and individuals see these donations as an opportunity to contribute to Lagos state. Sincerely speaking, this is awesome. We really appreciate Lagos ISACA team for these donations,” she said.
