The Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority, LASPPPA, has sealed more than 45 buildings across Eko and Ifako-Ijaiye districts over alleged violations of physical planning regulations.

The enforcement operations were carried out by the agency’s Monitoring and Compliance Unit on Wednesday in Ifako-Ijaiye District and Thursday in Eko District.

In a statement published on its Facebook page on Thursday, LASPPPA disclosed that 25 properties were sealed in Ifako-Ijaiye for various violations, including operating without valid planning permits, excessive building density, unauthorised remodelling, deviations from approved building plans and construction without approval.

Giving details of the second operation in an update on Friday, the authority said more than 20 buildings were also sealed in Eko District for violating planning regulations.

According to the agency, 10 properties were affected for deviating from their approved building plans, while five others were sealed for excessive density. Another five were sanctioned for carrying out remodelling without the necessary permits.

Other properties were sealed for commencing or continuing construction work without obtaining the required planning approval.

LASPPPA explained that the affected property owners and developers had previously received contravention notices from their respective district offices but failed to address the identified violations.

“Contravention notices had been served by the district office previously, but compliance was not achieved,” the agency stated.

The authority urged owners and developers of the affected properties to visit the nearest LASPPPA district office or its headquarters at Oba Akinjobi Way, GRA, Ikeja, to regularise their documents and obtain further guidance.
