Late Mohbad’s Family Secures IGP Approval For Fresh Investigation Into Singer’s Death

InformationNG about 3 hours 1 mins read

The family of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has secured approval for a fresh and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The family’s lawyer, Oladayo Ogungbe, disclosed this in a statement dated September 29, 2026, stressing that the police re-investigation is already underway despite the recent dismissal of a suit by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

According to Ogungbe, the Aloba family submitted a petition to the Inspector-General of Police on April 14, 2026. The petition was subsequently received at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on May 7.

The lawyer explained that the petition raised concerns over inconsistencies identified in the earlier investigation and called for a thorough forensic reconstruction of the events surrounding Mohbad’s death.
