Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 general elections in Oyo State, has on Thursday advised Governor Seyi Makinde of the State to pay outstanding salaries and other entitlements of workers at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso without wasting time.
Alli gave this advice while reacting to the indefinite strike action declared by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, LAUTECH chapter.
DAILY POST gathered that members of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, at LAUTECH on Thursday directed all its members to suspend all academic activities within the institution effective from midnight today.
The union made this declaration via a statement issued in the early hours of Thursday.
LAUTECH ASUU Chairman, Professor Olujimi Dada and Secretary, Dr Soji Arinola, in the statement, explained that the decision was reached after an emergency congress held on Wednesday.
The duo in the statement noted that all members of the union are expected to comply with the directive. https://dailypost.ng/2026/10/29/lautech-academic-staff-begin-indefinite-strike-over-unpaid-arrears-others/
But, Alli, in his reaction, described the presidential campaign embarked upon by the governor at the time when workers at LAUTECH are on strike as a misplaced priority.
Alli made this declaration via a statement signed by the director of his campaign organisation, Bisi Oladele.
The statement was made available to DAILY POST Thursday evening.
Alli in the statement condemned the governor for ignoring the demands of doctors and lecturers in the institution.
The APC candidate, while speaking further, accused Makinde of insensitivity to the plight of the masses and thousands of students attending the institution.
Alli in the statement said, "It is the height of misplaced priorities for a governor who endlessly trumpets his commitment to workers’ welfare."
