The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential campaign council has expressed confidence that its candidate, Seyi Makinde, will defeat President Bola Tinubu in 12 states in the 2027 presidential election.
The council said Makinde’s RESET NIGERIA message was gaining traction nationwide and would weaken Tinubu’s chances of securing re-election.
The Director of Strategic Communications of the APM campaign council, Richard Ihediwa, stated this in a statement issued on Saturday.
Ihediwa listed Oyo, Kaduna, Rivers, Plateau, Borno, Enugu, Bauchi, Sokoto, Delta, Kano, Adamawa and Lagos as the 12 states where the council predicted victory for Makinde.
“We are confident that Engr. Seyi Makinde will defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 12 battleground states identified by the President, as well as in other states across the federation, in the January 2027 presidential election,” the statement read.
The campaign council attributed its optimism to what it described as Makinde’s growing political support, insisting that political manoeuvring and the use of incumbency would not stop the APM candidate.
“No amount of political manoeuvring, intimidation or abuse of incumbency by the President’s associates can stop the growing support for the APM candidate and his Reset Nigeria Agenda,” Ihediwa said.
He challenged Tinubu to travel by road to Plateau, Kaduna, Kano and other states to assess the condition of federal highways and the hardship facing Nigerians.
“We challenge President Tinubu to visit Plateau, Kaduna, Kano and other states by road to witness firsthand the deplorable state of federal highways, the hardship faced by Nigerians and the widespread infrastructural decay across the country,” he said.
The APM spokesperson also criticised the Tinubu administration, accusing it of spending public funds on what he described as wasteful projects and programmes while Nigerians grapple with economic hardship.
He said Makinde’s RESET NIGERIA programme offered an alternative built around an inclusive, four-year transitional government of national unity.
According to him, the programme has four priority areas: education, the economy, security, and socio-political reforms.
Ihediwa said the economic component would tackle poverty by boosting production, while the security plan would combine intelligence gathering, social reorientation, and kinetic and non-kinetic measures.
He added that the education policy would expand access to quality and functional education, while institutional reforms would promote inclusive governance and responsible leadership.
