Makinde’s presidential bid dead on arrival – Oyo APC guber candidate, Alli

Daily Post 1 day 2 mins read

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has described the presidential ambition of Governor Seyi Makinde of the state as “dead on arrival.”

Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, made the declaration in a statement signed by the spokesman of his campaign organisation, Bisi Oladele.

The statement was made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday.

DAILY POST gathered that Makinde is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

In the statement, Alli explained that a recent statement by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, in which he publicly acknowledged that President Bola Tinubu had done well, was an indication that Makinde’s ambition was “dead on arrival.”

The APC candidate further said that Makinde’s candidacy was increasingly becoming a smokescreen for negotiation.

He added that Mohammed’s latest commendation of Tinubu had further exposed what he described as the emptiness of Makinde’s presidential ambition.

Alli further said that the people of the state were more interested in Makinde’s legacy.

He used the opportunity to advise Makinde to concentrate on accounting for his stewardship in the state.

“For Governor Makinde, however, the political message could not be clearer. His presidential campaign is collapsing under the weight of its own contradictions before the real contest has even begun.

“A presidential candidate whose own political allies are validating the achievements of the incumbent has a serious credibility problem,” he said.
