Manchester City have been found guilty of almost all of the 115 charges brought against the club for breaching Premier League financial regulations between 2009 and 2018.
Following an investigation into City’s financial dealings, the Premier League had in February 2023 referred the case to an independent commission for a hearing.
Citing an anonymous source, The Athletic reported on Friday that eight-time Premier League champions have been found guilty on all but one of the 115 charges against City.
The Athletic reported that the independent panel has yet to determine the nature of the sanctions to be imposed on City, noting that all possibilities remain on the table.
It added that the process to decide on the appropriate sanctions is underway, but the club is expected to appeal.
“The Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed, and subject to strict confidentiality. As such, Manchester City FC’s position remains consistent with the club’s statement of February 2023.
“The club has diligently respected due process for eight years on the basis that the Premier League board and executive would behave as an independent, impartial and fair-minded regulator, free from partisan influence,” a spokesperson for City said in response to the development.
