Police in Masaka East have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of Natukunda Jackline, a resident of Lukaya, as investigations into the killing and two other suspected murder cases continue.
According to SP Kasirye Twaha, the Police spokesperson for Masaka East and West, the case came to light on September 29, 2026, when a human head wrapped in a white polythene bag was reportedly dumped at Kako Cell along the Kako–Mukungwe Road in Nyendo-Mukungwe Division.
The corresponding headless body was later recovered from Butale Cell in Kyanamukaka.
SP Twaha said thorough investigations led to the arrest of two suspects, including Kamugisha Kulaishi, 38, a moneylender and resident of Kasala LC I in Nyendo-Mukungwe, who is considered the principal suspect.
The second suspect is a traditional healer from Kyotera District who is alleged to have commissioned the procurement of human body parts.
“During investigations, the principal suspect led detectives and Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCO) through a reconstruction of the crime scene. He reportedly demonstrated how and where he allegedly picked up the victim from Lukaya before murdering her,” Twaha said.
Police investigations indicate that the principal suspect allegedly told detectives he had been hired by the traditional healer to procure human body parts for Shs2 million, with Shs250,000 reportedly paid in advance.
Investigators have also linked the principal suspect to two other murder cases reported in Nsangi, Wakiso District, and Sanga.
Twaha said the suspect allegedly disclosed that he had consumed the heart of one of the victims in one of the incidents. The allegations are still under investigation.
During a search at the principal suspect’s residence, detectives reportedly recovered a jacket, a pair of gumboots, a saucepan and assorted items suspected to be associated with ritual activities.
The recovered items have been secured for forensic examination to establish their relevance to the ongoing investigations.
“Both suspects remain in police custody as inquiries into the murders and their possible links to other incidents continue,” Twaha said.
Police investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killings and determine whether the suspects are connected to other similar cases.
The suspects remain subject to the ongoing investigations, and the allegations against them have not been proven in court.
