The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has provided vehicles to eight suspended members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
The vehicles are expected to ease the lawmakers’ transportation challenges and facilitate their political engagements and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Presenting the vehicles, the Managing Director of the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), Yazid Danfulani, described the gesture as part of Matawalle’s efforts to promote unity, cohesion and political understanding among All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in the state.
He said the intervention reflected the minister’s commitment to bringing party members together and strengthening the party ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, leader of the suspended members Aliyu Kagara thanked Matawalle for the gesture and pledged that the lawmakers would work assiduously for the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027.
The provision of the vehicles is seen as part of broader efforts to consolidate the lawmakers’ return to the APC and strengthen the party’s political mobilisation in Zamfara State ahead of the general elections.
The gesture comes amid efforts to strengthen party unity and consolidate reconciliation among APC stakeholders in Zamfara State following a period of political disagreement.
President Bola Tinubu was reportedly said to have directed the lawmakers to return to the state and work towards strengthening party unity and cohesion ahead of the elections.
Matawalle, a former Zamfara State governor, reportedly ordered the immediate release of the vehicles to support the lawmakers’ activities in their respective constituencies.
