The Nigerian military has reported that eight terrorists were neutralised and 10 others injured in a strike on terrorist positions across the Lake Chad waterways.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the operation was carried out around 9 am on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, by the maritime component of Operation Hadin Kai, with support from an armed unmanned aerial vehicle platform.
The preliminary assessment indicated that eight terrorists were neutralised while 10 others sustained injuries.
However, troops could not reach the target area for ground verification because of the difficult waterways.
The report stated that “the assessment was limited to aerial surveillance because the waterways posed a major obstacle to troops’ access to the target area for ground verification.”
Follow-up operations were ongoing to assess the strike’s impact on terrorist activities in the Lake Chad region.
