More pilgrims return, 2 flights pending

Numo Sanneh, managing director of the Gambia International Airlines GIA, yesterday told The Standard that some 280 pilgrims on the fourth Hajj flight for 2026, returned home on Monday.

He further revealed that 434 pilgrims, including officials, remain in Saudi Arabia awaiting their return.

The GIA boss added that another flight carrying 304 will leave Jeddah for Banjul on Thursday 18 June, while the final batch of pilgrims is scheduled to arrive on Saturday 20 June.
