Moses Simon to become fifth Super Eagles player to reach 100 caps [Full list]

Super Eagles winger Moses Simon is set to join an elite group of Nigerian footballers when he makes his 100th appearance for the national team.

Simon is closing in on the landmark as Nigeria prepare for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifying campaign starting with Madagascar on Friday in Uyo, with the winger expected to feature prominently under head coach Eric Chelle and reach the milestone.

This would place Simon among a select group of players who have represented the Super Eagles at senior international level on at least 100 occasions.

1. Ahmed Musa — 109 appearances

Former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa holds the record for the most appearances for Nigeria, having represented the country 109 times.

Musa made his senior international debut in 2010 and featured at multiple Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup tournaments.

He also captained Nigeria to the 2021 AFCON.

2. Joseph Yobo — 101 appearances

Former captain Joseph Yobo is second on Nigeria’s all-time appearance list with 101 caps.

The defender made his Super Eagles debut in 2001 and went on to become one of the country’s most consistent players.

Yobo was part of the Nigerian squad that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

3. Vincent Enyeama — 101 appearances

Former goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama also earned 101 caps for the Super Eagles.

Enyeama was Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper for several years and played at the 2002, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.

He also helped Nigeria win the 2013 AFCON.

4. Nwankwo Kanu — 86 appearances

Nwankwo Kanu is among Nigeria’s most decorated footballers but did not reach 100 senior international appearances.

The former Arsenal and Inter Milan striker made 86 appearances for the Super Eagles.

He won two African Footballer of the Year awards and was part of Nigeria’s squad that won the 1996 Olympic football gold medal.

5. Moses Simon — 99 appearances

Simon is on the verge of becoming the latest Nigerian to reach the 100-cap milestone.

The winger made his Super Eagles debut in 2015 and has remained a regular member of the national team over the years.

If he features in Nigeria’s upcoming fixture, Simon will reach 100 senior international appearances, joining Musa, Yobo and Enyeama in the 100-cap club.
