The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’adu Abubakar, has applauded the unity between Muslims and Christians, saying people of both faiths can come together, eat, drink and remain friends despite their religious differences.
Speaking at an event, the Sultan said he saw nothing controversial about the gathering, while appreciating those who believed in the possibility of peaceful coexistence between both religious groups.
According to him, Muslims and Christians should be able to sit together, have conversations and share meals without allowing religious differences to create division.
“I don’t see anything controversial except to thank all of you. And according to the CAN President, the co-chairman, thank all of you, Muslims and Christians, for believing that we can sit in one place and talk to one another, drink together, drink fura, eat tuwo, eat amala, and for some of you, drink ogogoro not for me and still be friends of one another.”
The Sultan’s remarks highlighted the importance of religious tolerance, friendship and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, regardless of their faith.
