Mutfwang promises stronger security, return of displaced persons

Daily Post about 3 hours 2 mins read

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has promised to strengthen security across the state and take practical steps to ensure that internally displaced persons, IDPs, return to their ancestral communities.

Mutfwang gave the assurance on Monday in Jos during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said his administration was committed to protecting every part of the state and ensuring that residents who fled their communities because of insecurity could return home.

“I am committed to securing every part of Plateau State and taking necessary measures to ensure that displaced residents can return to their communities soon.”

The governor disclosed that the state would soon strengthen its security operations with the deployment of additional personnel.

He said a new batch of retrained Operation Rainbow operatives would be commissioned the following week, while at least 800 trained forest guards would be deployed within four weeks.

“In another four weeks, we are also going to release at least 800 trained forest guards. We are determined to ensure that our people return to their ancestral homes,” Mutfwang said.

He commended President Bola Tinubu for his support in addressing insecurity and prioritising the welfare of Nigerians.

The governor also appealed to Plateau residents to remain patient and continue to support his administration's efforts to restore peace and security.
