Nigerian singer Davido has reportedly turned down multi-million-dollar offers to endorse presidential candidates, according to his logistics manager, Israel DMW, who has come out strongly to defend the singer against claims that he is secretly working with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Israel, who questioned why some Nigerians continue to doubt Davido’s political stance, maintained that the singer has no preferred presidential candidate at the moment and has refused to be swayed by huge financial offers.
According to Israel, Davido has consistently maintained that he stands with ordinary Nigerians who are struggling with the country’s economic challenges and other difficulties. He insisted that the singer has no intention of betraying the people for personal gain.
“What else do Nigerians want again?” Israel reportedly asked, expressing frustration over the allegations against the music star.
His comments have sparked conversations about celebrities, politics and the pressure public figures face when it comes to declaring their political loyalties.
While some fans have praised Davido for allegedly refusing the lucrative offers, others believe that Nigerians have every right to question celebrities’ political positions, especially when their influence can shape public opinion.
