Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi has clarified that he is not at loggerheads with Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, saying he and his wife are godparents to the governor’s children.
Obi spoke on Friday while addressing the Nigerian Guild of Editors on the controversy surrounding claims by the Soludo administration that his government left debts in Anambra State.
The former governor said he was not quarrelling with Soludo, adding that they would still embrace each other whenever they meet.
Obi also insisted that he left no debt for the state, stressing that he was the only governor who saved about $150 million during his tenure.
He said, “I and my wife are godparents to Soludo’s children. We are that close. so we are not quarrelling and we will never quarrel.
“If I see him any day, I will hug him. If they say anything I will answer them and like I said yesterday, I did not leave debt in Anambra State.
“Thank God Otti confirmed this morning during an interview on Arise TV. I left 150 million dollars in savings. No other governor has left dollars. If you see one, tell me.”
