I'm alive - Willie Obiano

By Nwafor Sunday

Former Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has called for a thorough and credible investigation into the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash near Igbokoda, Ondo State, which claimed 25 lives.

Obiano made the call in a statement posted on his X platform on Wednesday, while commiserating with the families of those who died in the crash.

He said the victims’ families deserved answers, while Nigerians should be informed about the circumstances that led to the tragedy.

“The Nigerian Air Force crash near Igbokoda, which claimed 25 lives, demands a thorough and credible investigation,” Obiano said.

“My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones. They deserve answers, and the country deserves to know what went wrong.”

The former governor said the investigation should examine the aircraft’s maintenance history, operational procedures and other factors that may have contributed to the crash.

He also called for the findings of the inquiry to be made public and for any necessary safety measures to be implemented.

According to him, the value of an investigation should ultimately be measured by whether lessons from the incident help prevent a recurrence.

“The true measure of an investigation is whether its lessons prevent another family from enduring the same loss,” he said.
