Naira Exchange Rate Today, September 1, 2026: Naira appreciates to begin Month on good note

The naira appreciated against the dollar on the first trading day of September 2026 at the official foreign exchange market.

Central Bank of Nigeria data showed that the naira further strengthened to N1,329.43 against the dollar on Tuesday, up from N1,332.94 exchanged on Monday.

This means that, on a day-to-day basis, the naira gained N3.51 against the dollar.

Meanwhile, at the black market, the naira remained flat at N1,400 per dollar on Tuesday, the same rate traded on Monday.

The development comes as Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves rose to $53.81 billion at the close of August 2026.

Recall that the naira firmed up against the dollar on Monday at the official foreign exchange market to kick off the week on a good note.
