Nasarawa State Police Command has intensified its security operations in Keana Local Government Area, conducting clearance exercises in Chekwe and Kwara forests as part of efforts to dislodge suspected criminals and dismantle their hideouts.
The operation, carried out on Wednesday, October 28, involved personnel of the Police Mobile Force, PMF, conventional police officers and tactical teams deployed across the area.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the operation began in Kadarko and proceeded through Angwan Alaku, where the operatives crossed a river before advancing into Chekwe Forest.
The team subsequently moved through Ansa Village and Angwan Yara to Kwara Forest, where officers combed the forest and surrounding areas in search of suspected criminal hideouts.
The Command said the exercise was designed to deny criminal elements safe havens, restrict their movement and prevent activities capable of threatening the safety of residents.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, said the Command was taking the fight against crime directly to areas believed to be used as hideouts.
“The Command will not wait for criminals to threaten the peace and safety of citizens before taking action,” Mohammed said, stressing that the police would continue to deploy proactive and intelligence-led strategies to identify and tackle security threats within the framework of the law.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through established police communication channels.
The commissioner assured the public that information provided to the police would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
