—Directs members to use approved two-finger logo

ABUJA — The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has hailed the Judiciary for directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise and use the party’s modified digital logo.
The party also directed all its candidates and members to use only the approved NDC logo on campaign materials, including banners, posters and other publicity items.
In a statement on Thursday, the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, said the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja granted the party’s prayers in a suit seeking to compel INEC to upload and use its modified digital logo as contained in the party’s constitution.
The party said the modified logo was to replace the old association logo with which the NDC was originally registered.
According to the statement, the NDC approved the modified logo at its first National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on March 25, 2026, and subsequently forwarded it to INEC.
The party said INEC initially uploaded the new logo but later removed it and reinstated the old association logo without communicating any reason to the party.
The NDC said it gave the electoral commission sufficient time to resolve the issue administratively but was eventually compelled to seek legal redress.
In a judgment delivered by Justice J.O. Abdulmalik, the court ordered INEC to approve the modified logo design, including its symbol and colours, for use by the NDC as its official logo for all purposes as a political party, including elections conducted by the commission.
The court also granted an order of perpetual injunction restraining INEC from stopping or interfering with the NDC’s use of the digitally designed “two-finger” victory sign.
The party described the judgment as a timely intervention by the Judiciary and thanked the court for directing INEC to recognise its modified logo.
Against this backdrop, the NDC directed all candidates and members to adopt and use only the approved logo on campaign materials and other party publicity items.
The party acknowledged that some candidates and members might have already produced campaign materials bearing the old logo, and regretted any inconvenience caused by the change.
It said it would intensify public sensitisation on the party’s official logo and urged its supporters and candidates not to be worried by the development.
“We assure our supporters and candidates that there is nothing to worry about. We are in this together,” the statement added.
