Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has written his name into Ajax Amsterdam's history books after matching a remarkable scoring record previously set by club legend Patrick Kluivert.
The Super Eagles forward achieved the milestone during Ajax's 2-2 draw against FC Twente in Sunday's Eredivisie encounter at De Grolsch Veste.
Arokodare needed just two minutes and 22 seconds to make his mark, giving the visitors an early advantage with a powerful header after connecting with a cross from the left flank.
Ajax looked set for a comfortable victory when Rayane Bounida extended their lead in the 66th minute. However, Twente fought back through Dies Janse and Wout Weghorst to earn a share of the points.
Despite the disappointing result, Arokodare had another reason to celebrate after achieving a significant landmark.
According to Head Topics, the Nigerian has become only the second Ajax player to score in six of his first seven Eredivisie starts for the club, equalling a record established by former Netherlands international Patrick Kluivert 32 years ago.
His latest goal also represented Ajax's quickest league strike since October 27, 2019, when they scored against Feyenoord just one minute and 59 seconds into the match.
Before Sunday's meeting with Twente, Arokodare had already found the net against Telstar, PSV Eindhoven, NEC Nijmegen, Sparta Rotterdam and AZ Alkmaar.
The striker's impressive form has continued to make an impact in Amsterdam, with the Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee now boasting 13 goals and four assists in 17 appearances across all competitions for Ajax.
