NFF Hails Osimhen, Iheanacho, Babajide, Other Title Winners in Europe

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has heaped plaudits on Nigeria’s men and women international players who have won League and Cup titles in their different career stations in Europe, saying their accomplishments has not only delighted Nigeria’s supreme football-governing body, but is also prove of their quality, class and consistency.

“The NFF is very happy with the achievements of these players in their various clubs and Leagues. It is a thing of joy to see our players winning trophies here and there, as it presents assurance that they are in good form to deliver whenever any international match or tournament comes up.

“We congratulate them warmly and wish them greater heights, while charging them not to rest on their oars but rather pursue even greater glory in their different stations.”

Super Eagles’ ace forward Victor Osimhen won the Turkish Super Lig with his club, Galatasaray. He was a key scorer for the team and helped clinch the title for Galatasaray with one matchday to spare.

Paul Onuachu and Anthony Nwakaeme also won the Turkish Cup with Trabzonspor.

Defender Zaidu Sanusi is also a league champion after his club, FC Porto won the Taça de Portugal, with his Super Eagles’ team-mate Terem Moffi also a champion with the team after joining on loan from French club, OG Nice during the January transfer window.

Midfielder Raphael Onyedika won the Belgian Pro League with Club Brugge, while forward Kelechi Iheanacho was instrumental in Celtic FC claiming the League and Cup double in his first season in Scotland.

Defender Igoh Ogbu is also in joyous mood as his club, Slavia Prague won the Czech First League, just as goalkeeper Francis Uzoho whose Omonia Nicosia won the Cypriot First Division.

Defender Oluwasemilogo Ajayi is euphoric following his club, Hull City’s triumph in the English Championship play-off final on Saturday, which catapulted The Tigers back to the English Premiership.

Super Falcons’ rugged midfielder Christy Ucheibe won a clutch of trophies in Portugal, claiming the Taça de Portugal Feminina, Taça de Liga Feminina and the Super Taça de Portugal Feminina with SL Benfica.

Falcons’ defender Shukurat Oladipo, who moved to AS Roma in Italy from FC Robo Queens of Lagos only last year, was adjudged the best defender in the Serie A Femminile as her club clinched the title.

Forward Rinsola Babajide, who joined AS Roma from UD Tenerife of Spain is also over the moon, as she contributed two goals in nine League appearances to the team’s triumph in the season.
