Nigerian-born nurse and social media personality, Bemi Orojuogun, popularly known as “London Bus Aunty,” has been honoured in the United Kingdom with a London bus stop named in her recognition.
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, while congratulating Orojuogun on the recognition.
NiDCOM Chairman/CEO, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, described the honour as a remarkable achievement and a source of pride to Nigeria and Nigerians in the diaspora.
Dabiri-Erewa said Orojuogun’s journey demonstrated how passion, authenticity and positive representation of one’s heritage could create an impact beyond the shores of Nigeria.

“Orojuogun, who became widely known for her engaging videos featuring London’s iconic red buses, has used her platform to showcase everyday life in the city while connecting with audiences through her unique personality and love for London’s transport system.
“The NiDCOM Chairman commended her for bringing joy to many people through her content and for positively representing Nigerians in the United Kingdom. She also applauded Transport for London (TfL) for recognising Orojuogun’s contribution and celebrating her connection with the city’s transport community,” the statement reads.
Orojuogun became widely known through engaging videos featuring London’s iconic red buses. Through her social media platforms, she has showcased everyday life in the city while sharing her fascination with London’s transport system with audiences online.
According to NiDCOM, her content and unique personality have helped her connect with people while bringing joy to many through her videos.
Dabiri-Erewa commended the Nigerian-born nurse for positively representing Nigerians in the United Kingdom and using her platform to create a positive image of the Nigerian diaspora.
She also applauded Transport for London (TfL) for recognising Orojuogun’s contribution and celebrating her connection with the city’s transport community.
The NiDCOM chairman said the recognition further highlighted the contributions Nigerians continue to make in different fields and communities around the world.
She encouraged Orojuogun to regard the honour as an inspiration to continue using her platform positively, adding that the achievements of Nigerians in the diaspora remain a source of pride to the country.
Dabiri-Erewa wished Orojuogun continued success and congratulated her on what she described as a well-deserved recognition.
